Abbotsford man sentenced to life in prison for the second degree murder of his wife in 2022

ABBOTSFORD — Inderjit Singh Sandhu has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2022 homicide of his wife, Kamaljit Kaur Sandhu in Abbotsford. According to a news release from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), the sentence was handed down on Thursday (Jul. 4) in Abbotsford Supreme Court. The 48-year-old Sandhu must serve 13 years before becoming eligible for parole.

The Abbotsford Police Department was called to a home in the 2900-block of Eastview Street on July 28, 2022. First responders found 45-year-old Kamaljit Kaur Sandhu suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite the best efforts of officers and paramedics, Kamaljit succumbed to her injuries.

Inderjit Singh Sandhu was found at the scene and taken into custody. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the investigation, working closely with AbbyPD and the BC Coroners Service.

After an extensive investigation, Inderjit Singh Sandhu appeared in Abbotsford Supreme Court on April 19, 2024, where he pled guilty to second-degree murder.
