MISSION — Correctional Service Canada says an inmate who was serving a sentence for sexually-related offences has died while in custody at a prison in Mission, but the feds aren’t permitted to reveal the prisoner’s identity.

According to a statement from CSC, the inmate passed on Monday, June 24. The individual’s name will be kept anonymous to comply with the terms of a court-ordered publication ban to protect the identity of the victims.

At the time of death, the inmate had been serving a sentence of 11 years and 6 months for sexually-related offences and assault with a weapon since May 10, 2022.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified.
