CHILLIWACK — A convicted sex offender who previously breached his bail conditions on multiple occasions in Chilliwack in 2023 has been found guilty of multiple sexual assaults.

According to a published report Friday, June 21 from CFJC Today in Kamloops, Joel Eric Carlson was standing trial in B.C. Supreme Court this month on a total of 10 counts of sexual assault dating back as far as 2013. The most recent charge stemmed from an incident in the fall of 2018.

On Thursday night (June 20), a jury came back with guilty verdicts on six of those counts, CFJC Today reported. Carlson was found not guilty on the other four counts. Carlson was initially charged with sexual assault and forcible confinement after an arrest by Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP in 2018.

In May 2023, Joel Carlson, a 30-year-old male, had been wanted by the Kamloops RCMP on an unendorsed warrant for six counts of breaching a release order. At the time, Carlson was described as a Caucasian male, 6’2″ tall, weighing 221 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

According to court records online, Carlson reportedly breached his bail conditions in Chilliwack on six separate occasions in March 2023. He also reportedly breached his conditional order in Chilliwack four times, with one in February 2023 and three in March 2023.
