B.C. Conservatives report record-breaking fundraising haul in 2nd quarter of 2024

CHILLIWACK — An official with the Conservative Party of B.C. says the party is poised to record the highest fundraising amount in its history for the second quarter of 2024.

Fraser Valley Today has obtained an email in which Angelo Isidorou, campaign director for the party, said the Conservative Party was $50,000 away from breaking the $1 million mark in the second quarter of 2024, making it their highest in party history.

“I wanted to make sure that you got a special update on our record-shattering fundraising progress this quarter!” Isidorou wrote to supporters. “The Conservative Party of B.C. is about $50,000 away from breaking $1 million dollars this quarter – that’s the best fundraising result in the history of our Party!”

The B.C. Conservatives have been surging over the past year as its party grew from one MLA a year ago, following the defection of leader John Rustad, to four MLAs. BC United MLAs Lorne Doerkson left BC United at the end of May, and Elenore Sturko joined the party in June 2024.

The party still trails the B.C. NDP by a sizable margin in Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island ahead of this year’s provincial election, but is much more competitive in the Fraser Valley, B.C. Interior and northern B.C.

The party says the record-breaking fundraising tally illustrates that it has the momentum.

“If that doesn’t show that our movement is growing, I don’t know what will,” Isidorou said. “And it’s all because of grassroots supporters like you!”

Elections B.C. said the Conservative Party received $383,954.16 between January 1 and March 31, 2024. The governing B.C. NDP received $1.1 million in the first quarter, while B.C. United hauled in an impressive $830,642.
