CHILLIWACK — A restaurant in Chilliwack has made the difficult decision to close its doors.

In an Instagram post, BRGR BRGR, a trendy eatery offering burgers, beers and shakes at 45655 Tamihi Way near Save-On-Foods in Garrison, announced on social media Saturday (June 22) that it has shuttered its Chilliwack location effective Saturday night.

“Hey CHWK BRGR FANS – it’s with a heavy heart that we have made the decision to close our CHWK location, with today being our last day,” the restaurant wrote on Instagram.

The small business cited rising costs, presumably from its supply chain and labour costs, in addition to high interest rates, as the primary reasons for its closure.

“This was not an easy choice, but with rising costs in the economy and interest rates, it’s been a challenging few years for small businesses – to say the least,” the company wrote. “We want to thank our CHWK BRGR BRGR CREW for ALL their hard work! We also need to give a huge shout out to our CHWK FANS (you know who you are!) … thanks for all the support and we hope to see you at our ABBY location when you can make the drive out! Thanks CHWK, it’s been a ride!”

The Chilliwack location has already been scrubbed from its website, meaning its lone location in Abbotsford at 33758 Essendene Avenue will remain open 11-9 seven days a week.

The burger chain says it started with a group of dads who were “seeking a spot where you could get a locally sourced burger and craft beer in an environment that you felt good to be in.”

“We believe in knowing where our food comes from, supporting our farms and creating products that are locally sourced and always fresh, never frozen,” the company wrote on its website.

Their burgers had a price point of $8 for a 3-ounce “Good Brgr” all the way up to $16 for a “Smoked Brgr.”
