Victim hospitalized after assault near downtown Chilliwack Canada Post

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener says an individual was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after an assault Thursday (June 20) in downtown Chilliwack.

According to a brief statement released Friday morning, Cpl. Kiener confirmed that the assault involved a weapon. The sole victim was transported to hospital with injuries that were not considered critical.

Cpl. Kiener says she was aware of a report of a person swinging an axe in the area and did not dispute an inquiry into the type of weapon involved.

Police say they’re working to advance the investigation and are hoping to locate the assailant.
