CHILLIWACK — Cheam View United Church announced Friday (June 14) that it will formally reopen in Little Mountain this month as the amalgamation of three local churches.

Cheam View United, previously known as Mt. Shannon United Church, has emerged as the consolidation of Chilliwack United Church, Rosedale United Church and Mt. Shannon United Church.

Their facility at 46875 Yale Road in Little Mountain had been renovated over the past year.

According to a Facebook posting from Curtis Weeks, each of these churches has a rich heritage of service to the Chilliwack community.

“At Cheam View United Church, we welcome everyone to join our inclusive community. We are dedicated to creating a warm and welcoming environment for all who believe in the love and spirit of the church. Our church is built on the foundations of love, faith, and kindness,” Weeks wrote on Facebook Friday.

Their Sunday worship services are held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by coffee and a chat with fellow church members, visitors, and guests.

“Experience the joy and good life experience of our Chilliwack community at Cheam View United Church, and discover the newly renovated interior offering a more comfortable and brighter space to worship, and meet the people in our community,” Weeks wrote in his Facebook post.

The church plans to hold a grand opening on Saturday, June 22 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. where dignitaries from the City of Chilliwack and Skwah First Nation, and representatives from greater church community, are expected to attend.

“We invite everyone from the Chilliwack community to celebrate with us and enjoy some food and refreshments,” Weeks wrote.

Their grand opening worship service will happen Sunday, June 23 at 10 a.m., followed by coffee, refreshments, and a chance to get acquainted.

The downtown Cheam View United Church at 45835 Spadina Avenue held its final church service earlier this year to make way for a multi-storey residential complex.
