Record-number of Chilliwack families are accessing the Salvation Army Food Bank, but it’s nearly empty
CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Salvation Army says thousands of Chilliwack families are accessing the Salvation Army Community Food Bank each month, but it’s nearly out of food.
According to a social media post Thursday (June 13), the Salvation Army reports that it only has two weeks left of food in its food bank inventory.
Literally, it has two skids or less of every item, with its most glaring shortage being canned vegetables (0.25 skids remaining).
“Over 6,000 families are accessing the Food Bank each month,” more than ever before,” the Chilliwack Salvation Army wrote on Facebook. “Chilliwack, you have had our back for the last 100 years, are you able to help us now?”
