Chilliwack River Valley Fire Dept. congratulates its 3 newest recruits who completed training
CHILLIWACK — It’s hard enough these days to find people who are available, willing and able to serve a rural fire department in a volunteer capacity, especially when that responsibility might take them away from commitments and other family activities.
Perhaps some of that reasoning factored into the Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department’s decision to publicly acknowledge three of its recruits who finished their training Tuesday night (June 11) and earned pagers that enable them to respond to calls for service in the rural fire department’s expansive catchment area.
“Tuesday night, three recruits finished their training and earned pagers! Since January, they have completed over 150 hours of training, not including all the studying and exams,” Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department wrote on social media.
The department, headed up by Fire Chief Mike Danyluk, extended wholehearted congratulations to firefighters Owen Bosma, Garrett Galuska and James Hogben, who took photos with the chief officers. Training officer Tegan Luckham and other members were instrumental in instructing and mentoring the three new recruits along the way.
