Free movie admission and other free activities to highlight Canada Day in Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK — The City of Chilliwack says free movie admission, free swimming and ice skating, and Chilliwack’s first ever drone show account for just some of the Canada Day festivities in Chilliwack.

According to a post on the city’s website, Canada Day in Chilliwack gets underway at Evergreen Hall (9291 Corbould Street) with the Sardis Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast starting at 8 a.m. and going until 11 a.m., at a cost of $5/person.

There’s free swimming all day at the Cheam Leisure Centre and Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre starting at 7 a.m. and going until 8:30 p.m.

There’s also free ice skating at Sardis Sports Complex from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Chilliwack Coliseum. Please note, skate rentals are an extra cost.

Cottonwood 4 Cinemas on Luckakuck Way is offering free movie admission for family-friendly movies between noon and 4 p.m. on a first-come, first served basis. Check the Cottonwood 4 Cinemas website for details.

The Chilliwack Museum will offer free admission for the Refuge Canada exhibition, a traveling display created by the Canadian Museum of Immigration. Free admission is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There’s a new location for the evening festivities as Exhibition Park (9145 Corbould Street) will host Chilliwack’s first Canada Day drone show. The evening celebration gets underway at 5 p.m. Hosted by Trevor McDonald, there will be live entertainment, food trucks, the Re/Max Kids Zone, and more. Bring lawn chairs and/or blankets to sit on the turf to watch the stage entertainment. Seating in the stands will also be available. Live entertainment will feature Jazz Bandits, Claim Jumpers, Retrobot and Fleetwood Magic, Canada’s authentic Fleetwood Mac tribute show.
