Fire breaks out near Fraser Canyon Hospital in Hope

HOPE — Hope Fire Department says it responded Sunday evening (June 9) to a brush fire close to an outbuilding at Fraser Canyon Hospital.

According to a brief Facebook post from the fire agency, nine Hope firefighters attended and were able to quickly down the fire.

The cause remains unknown and is being investigated by Hope RCMP personnel.

“This fire demonstrates the risk a brush fire presents to nearby structures and why District of Hope FireSmart is so important,” Hope Fire wrote in its Facebook post.

The call was the eighth call for service that its volunteers had answered since Friday, June 7.
