Hope Search and Rescue activated for 3 rescue efforts Friday – all in one hour
HOPE — When the weather warms up and summer arrives, the calls for service involving search and rescue personnel seem to increase.
On Friday, June 7, Hope Volunteer Search and Rescue experienced this first-hand when they were activated to rescue an injured hiker on the Hope Lookout Trail at 3:08 p.m., the first of three calls for service in just one hour alone.
B.C. Emergency Health Services asked Hope Fire Department crews to respond to this call for service on the Hope Lookout Trail. The patient was located approximately 30 minutes up the trail, Hope Fire wrote in its own Facebook post. Three firefighters initially made the climb to help locate the injured hiker. With further assistance from Hope SAR, the patient was brought down to a waiting ambulance. Six firefighters from Hope Fire attended the scene.
About a half hour later, search and rescue volunteers received a call of an injured hiker on the Dragon’s Back Trail.
