UPDATE: Coquihalla Highway reopened after Sunday afternoon vehicle incident

UPDATE at 4:25 p.m. — An update from a DriveBC social media reports all northbound lanes along the Coquihalla Highway have been reopened following an earlier incident near Coquihalla Lakes Rd.

COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY — A vehicle incident Sunday afternoon (June 2) has left the northbound Coquihalla Highway (Highway 5) blocked at Coquihalla Lakes Road.

According to an updated post from DriveBC at 3:25 p.m. Sunday: “Northbound vehicle incident has the NB roadway blocked at Coquihalla Lakes Rd. Crews are on scene. Expect major delays.”

Coquihalla Lakes Road is exit 228, or about 58 kilometres south of Merritt.

A witness reported on X/Twitter that she saw multiple emergency vehicles, possibly as many as eight first responders, at the scene of the vehicle incident on the Coquihalla.
