Abbotsford speeder pays steep price after doing nearly 100 km/hr in school zone
ABBOTSFORD — The Abbotsford Police Department say there’s just no possible excuse for going nearly 100 kilometres an hour in a school zone.
According to a social media post Tuesday morning from the department, police caught up to a person driving a four-door Toyota Corolla-looking vehicle at 97 km/h in a school zone somewhere in Abbotsford. The speed limit around schools is typically 30 km/hr.
The unwise decision not only cost the motorist with a lead foot their vehicle for seven days, but they were also assessed a $483 fine, and their ICBC renewal costs will likely increase as well.
“Simple equation: 97km/hr in 30km/hr school zone = $483 + 7 day car impound,” AbbyPD wrote on Facebook and Twitter. “There are zero excuses for excessive speeding in a school zone.”
