Two killed in small plane crash near Squamish

SQUAMISH — Squamish RCMP have confirmed a plane Friday (May 24) was fatal.

Authorities were able to access the remote crash site by air Saturday. The plane crashed south of Squamish on the west side of Howe Sound. The two occupants of the plane were found at the scene.

The RCMP is collaborating with the Transportation Safety Board and the BC Coroners Service to investigate the cause of the crash.

Squamish RCMP say they were able to reach the site with the assistance of Squamish Search and Rescue, Blackcomb Helicopters, and several members of the public.

Police say no additional details, including the likely cause of the crash, are being released at this time.
