Two men arrested in connection with stolen truck, glider plane: Upper Fraser Valley RCMP

HOPE — Two men have been arrested for their alleged role involving a stolen pickup truck and trailer that contained a glider plane from the Hope Airport.

According to a news release from Upper Fraser Valley RCMP Sergeant Mike Sargent, Mounties in Hope received a complaint on Monday, May 20 at 10:30 a.m., about a stolen pickup truck and glider plane from the airport in Hope. Police believe the theft occurred between 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., during which time the suspected thieves left the property by smashing through a metal gate with the truck.

On Monday evening, at approximately 8:45 p.m., Hope RCMP members were tipped off to a pickup truck driving erratically in the 62400 block of Highway 1 in Hope. Due to extensive patrols, RCMP members were able to identify and locate the pickup truck as the same one stolen from the Hope Airport, along with the trailer and glider plane that were being hidden in the forest beside the highway.

Two men were located with the with the trailer and aircraft and were taken into custody without incident, Sgt. Sargent said. Both men are facing charges for possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. The truck, trailer and plane have all been returned to their owner.
