MISSION — A man is recovering after being stabbed in the arm Thursday (May 16) evening near the intersection of North Railway Avenue and Lougheed Highway in Mission.

In a news release, Mission RCMP say officers responded to the scene and found a 36-year-old man with a stab wound shortly before 10:30 p.m. The victim had been fishing along the riverbank with a friend before the incident occurred. After finishing for the night, the victim walked up to the train tracks, where an altercation with another man ensued, leading to the stabbing. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

The victim sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to the hospital for treatment. RCMP temporarily closed a portion of North Railway Avenue while a police dog searched the area, but the suspect was not found.

The suspect is described as approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall with a short buzz-cut hairstyle. He was last seen wearing a dark grey hoodie and grey pants and had a bicycle with him.
