CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department, Chilliwack RCMP and B.C. Ambulance Service were dispatched Thursday afternoon (May 16) for a serious vehicle incident involving a truck versus a motorbike on Bench Forest Service Road north of Chilliwack Lake Road.

According to scanner traffic, CRVFD was dispatched at approximately 3:35 p.m. for the report of a truck versus motorbike.

An air ambulance has been activated and will land at approximately 4:15 p.m. The landing zone has been established southeast of Ford Mountain Correctional Centre at the Southview Gravel pit.

Two fire engines from CRVFD have been dispatched. Two Chilliwack RCMP units and two B.C. Ambulance Service units were on scene of the serious crash.

Chilliwack Search and Rescue has been similarly notified of the serious accident.

It’s not known exactly where the accident occurred on Bench Forest Service Road.

The patient was loaded into the helicopter as of approximately 4:55 p.m. Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department was cleared of the landing zone at roughly 4:58 p.m.

The area in question has been the scene of serious incidents this spring. As a matter of fact, two female off-road riders died in vehicle crashes in April in the Chilliwack River Valley.

Chilliwack RCMP were dispatched on Saturday, April 20 at approximately 5:30 p.m. for the report of a collision between two off-road motorcycles on Chipmunk Creek Forest Service Road. Corporal Kiener, spokesperson for the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment, says life-saving measures were exhausted on a 22-year-old female rider but she tragically succumbed to her injuries. The Integrated Collision Analysis Section attended to assist in the investigation which is ongoing. Criminality has not been ruled out, Cpl. Kiener said.

On Saturday, April 13, the Chilliwack RCMP responded to a fatal collision involving a single off-road vehicle. This collision resulted in the death of a 31-year-old female. Criminality is not believed to be a factor in that incident. Corporal Carmen Kiener says police responded to the report of a collision involving an ATV on Chipmunk FSR at 4:44 p.m. Saturday. Cpl. Kiener says a female passenger died on scene after life-saving measures were exhausted by bystanders and B.C. EHS personnel.
