Original story below:

HARRISON — The arrival of the 2024 fire season is hitting close to home for Fraser Valley residents.

BC Wildfire Services says it has located a fire north of Harrison Hot Springs, east of Harrison Lake, on Harrison Lake Forest Service Road that has since grown to 3 hectares as of Wednesday morning.

The fire was discovered late Tuesday night (May 14). BCWS says the fire has been designated as out of control and was likely caused by humans, not natural activity like thunderstorms.

The cause is said to be an RV fire that spread to the nearby forests.

Out of control means it is a “wildfire that is spreading or it is anticipated to spread beyond the current perimeter, or control line.”

No information was available on the resources that BCWS might use to combat the fire.
