May 10, 2024 | 5:05 PM

MISSION — Residents of Mission are expected to have greater access to team-based healthcare with the unveiling of the new Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC) Friday (May 10). The UPCC is open at 32555 London Avenue.

Health Minister Adrian Dix says the UPCC is meant to fortify primary care services, and produce timely and comprehensive healthcare for the community. “Mission’s new UPCC will make it easier for people in the community to access the timely care they need close to home,” said Dix.

Operational seven days a week, the UPCC will provide urgent care from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and statutory holidays. Longitudinal primary care services for attached patients will be available Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dr. Victoria Lee, president and CEO of Fraser Health is excited to see the enhancement to healthcare accessibility. “The new Mission UPCC brings opportunities for our community to access timely, quality care when they need it most,” said Dr. Lee.

The UPCC offers same-day care for non-emergency health concerns, such as sprains, cuts, high fevers, and minor infections. Patients can access care by walk-in or by calling 604 814-5648 to make an appointment.

The facility, equipped with seven exam rooms for urgent care, two consulting rooms, a reception area, and a triage station, will be staffed by a team of healthcare professionals, including family doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, clinical counselors, and administrative staff.

With the UPCC located alongside Mission’s Public Health Unit, quick referrals are anticipated between services, improving access to appropriate care.
