CHILLIWACK — An unidentified man faces a double whammy after being caught trying to steal ice cream from the downtown Chilliwack Save-On-Foods on Yale Road.

According to a news brief from Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener, a loss prevention officer from the downtown Save-On-Foods reported being assaulted on Saturday, April 21 at approximately 5 p.m., when they attempted to arrest a male for a theft of ice cream. The gender of the loss prevention officer is not known.

Chilliwack RCMP responded and located the assault suspect in the parking lot and subsequently arrested him, who was later released from custody as a result of the investigation and is required to appear in court at a later date.

The double whammy for the unidentified assault suspect is that he is banned from visiting the Save-On-Foods, as police say he is bound by conditions not to attend the store.
