Trans Mountain successfully completes pipe pullback between Chilliwack and Hope
CHILLIWACK — Trans Mountain says it has successfully completed the pipe pullback for the Mountain 3 Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) between Chilliwack and Hope in the Fraser Valley as it moves forward with another milestone in the pipeline expansion project.
One definition of pipe pullback involves the final step in a horizontal directional drilling operation where the product pipe is pulled back through the bore into its final position.
The company says it completed the pipe pullback last Friday, March 29, and hopes to begin commercial operation of the expanded system starting May 1, 2024.
“To complete the Expansion Project, there are several remaining steps including obtaining outstanding approvals from the Canada Energy Regulator (CER),” Trans Mountain said in a statement on its website. “With the appropriate approvals and completion of remaining construction activity, Trans Mountain will commence transporting crude oil on the expanded system.”
