CHILLIWACK — Voices in Our Community, a public forum underwritten and supported by Chilliwack Community Services through its Local Immigration Partnership program, will host a free luncheon event with keynote speaker Zeeshan Khan Thursday morning, March 14 at 11:15 a.m. at the Coast Hotel in downtown Chilliwack.

The forum is designed to highlight the positive elements of the broader Chilliwack community in creating a welcoming place for all individuals. It is open to the public and consists of community partners from various cross-sector organizations, newcomers, Indigenous guests and community members.

Chilliwack resident Zeeshan Khan, co-founder of the Streams Foundation, will share his personal experiences.

“I am honored to be invited as a keynote speaker for the event and will share my personal experiences,” Khan said in a Facebook Messenger note to Fraser Valley Today. “Chilliwack Community Services and I will proudly represent organizations I have been involved with.”

Khan is also a member of the City of Chilliwack Accessibility and Inclusion Committee, and works as a child and youth care worker at Vedder Middle School.

Anyone’s that followed Streams Foundation on Facebook, or viewed the foundation’s posts, knows the foundation hosts free coffee events with seniors throughout Chilliwack, typically on the weekend. Streams Foundation receives support from entities like the United Way, Starbucks Canada, Tim Hortons, Royal Zayka in Sardis, McDonald’s Canada, Chartwell Retirement Residences Canada and Good Cure Pharmacy Medical Clinic.

In addition to senior coffee events, Streams Foundation has branched out to events like weekend walks along the Rotary Vedder Trail like the one being held this Sunday, March 17 at 11 a.m. at Vedder Park.
