MISSION — Mounties in Mission say they removed six impaired drivers from Mission-area roadways in just over four hours on a busy Friday night earlier this month.

According to a community update from Corporal Harrison Mohr, police began their busy night of traffic activities by stopping a vehicle for driving without insurance on Lougheed Highway near Cedar Street at around 8:30 p.m. on Friday evening, March 1. The 29-year old male received a 3-day driving prohibition after generating a warn reading on a roadside screening device.

Just over an hour later at around 10 p.m., an officer observed a UHaul truck driving along 14th Avenue. As it approached Cedar Street, the driver put the turn signal on but did not actually turn. The 32-year-old male driver failed two roadside tests, resulting in a 90-day driving prohibition.

Just over an hour later, officers noted a vehicle speeding excessively and staying in the wrong lane after passing other vehicles. The 22-year-old male driver was issued a 3-day prohibition due to his blood alcohol level, and received a 7-day impound for the excessive speeding.

Half an hour later, an officer with Mission RCMP’s Traffic Services Unit observed a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Horne Street and Murray Street. The 26-year-old male driver had a novice driver’s license, which prohibited him from having any blood alcohol level. He was issued a 24-hour prohibition.

A 55-year-old female driver was pulled over half an hour later near 14th Avenue after police observed her driving erratically. The woman displayed numerous signs of being impaired by liquor, and refused to provide a breath sample, resulting in a 90-day driving prohibition.

Last but not least, roughly ten minutes later, another officer stopped a vehicle to check for sobriety after noting a series of erratic moves. The 24-year-old male failed a roadside screening test, and was also issued a 90-day driving prohibition.
