CHILLIWACK — Austin McNicholas stopped 21 shots while Mateo Mrsic had a goal and an assist to lead the Chilliwack Chiefs to a 3 – 0 shutout of the Cowichan Valley Capitals Monday (Feb. 20) afternoon at the Chilliwack Coliseum.
Mrsic’s goal came on a powerplay in the late stages of the first period. It stood up as the difference until the final minute of the third period when Brady Milburn and Brendan Ruskowski added singles.
The win leaves the Chiefs alone in second place in the BCHL Coastal Division with 53 points, two ahead of third place Alberni Valley although the Bulldogs do own one game in hand on Chilliwack.
