CHILLIWACK — One person is in custody following a shooting at a home near Lindell Beach Sunday (Feb. 18) that prompted a significant police response.

According to a statement from Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener, Mounties in Chilliwack were called to a property near Lindell Beach for a police incident involving shots fired.

“I can confirm there was a police incident yesterday near Lindell Beach consistent with the report of a shooting,” Cpl. Kiener said. “It occurred on a private property and was an isolated incident with no further risk to the public.”

Although B.C. Ambulance Service responded, there were no reported injuries and one person was taken into custody pending further investigation, including a search of the residence, Cpl. Kiener said, adding that police responded quickly and appropriately to resolve the incident.

Police have not disclosed the address of the reported shooting, but it’s believed that it occurred on Frost Road. A Chilliwack resident reported seeing two RCMP vehicles parked directly in the front and rear of a Frost Road home at 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon, with the vehicle lights on and the engine running.

Multiple witnesses reported seeing upwards of 10-12 RCMP units and at least one ambulance rushing through Cultus Lake with lights and sirens activated Sunday afternoon.
