CHILLIWACK — The Harrison Tulip Festival says it is moving back to where it all began.

In a social media post this week, the festival that describes itself as B.C.’s premier flower farm experience says it will hold its spring festival at a new location on Lougheed Highway in Agassiz, not far from Harrison Hot Springs.

“Yes, it’s true! We’ve moved on to better pastures!” Harrison Tulip Festival wrote on Facebook. “We are no longer growing our bulbs in the Chilliwack location. We’re gearing up for our return to where it all started, with the snow-capped Mount Cheam in Agassiz, BC.”

The festival will now be held at 5039 Lougheed Highway in Agassiz. A Facebook image states the Chilliwack Tulip Festival by Tulips of the Valley has moved.

Organizers say more details will be announced soon.

“We’ll see you this spring at 5039 Lougheed Highway, Agassiz, BC! We’re looking forward to welcoming you, so stay tuned for announcements in the coming weeks!”

Earlier this week, Harrison Tulip Festival posted a picture depicting its show garden at their new farm in Agassiz.

“The show garden from our new farm in Agassiz is starting to emerge!” the festival noted on Facebook.

Just days ago, Harrison Tulip Festival had been advertising Valentine’s Day flowers featuring fresh cut local tulips and hyacinths grown by Onos Greenhouses Ltd. The flowers were being sold at two of their flower stands, including 5039 Lougheed Highway in Agassiz and 11170A Gill Road in Rosedale. The tulips sold for $5 for a 5-stem bunch, or bunches of three for $12. Hyacinths sold for only $6 for a 5-stem bunch, or two bunches for $10, on a cash-only basis.
