CHILLIWACK — C-Lovers Fish & Chips general manager Josh Vit prides himself on running a tight ship and maintaining a spotless venue at his restaurant on Luckakuck Way in Chilliwack.

But Vit got an unexpected surprise Wednesday (Feb. 14) when an unknown suspect broke into the fish and chips restaurant at 45355 Luckakuck Way, smashing the front entrance’s glass doors.

Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener has confirmed police are investigating the early morning incident and acknowledges the break and enter is concerning.

“Yes, I can confirm that an unidentified individual entered the C-Lovers this morning but nothing was taken,” Cpl. Kiener said in an emailed statement to Fraser Valley Today. “Efforts are underway to identify the suspect through investigative channels.”

Vit says the suspect walked back and forth in front of the business before throwing a rock through the window and entering the business where he spent approximately 20 seconds inside before leaving the area on a bike. Vit says he rushed to the business and was there in less than 10 minutes.

Chilliwack RCMP arrived on scene in less than five minutes, Vit said, but the suspect was gone.

“We run a tight ship and pride ourselves on keeping it spotless,” Vit said.

Vit posted an image of the male suspect loitering in front of the business early Wednesday in hopes it will ID the suspect.

Vit said things have gotten worse around the area since the Sardis Bottle Depot relocated to 7592 Vedder Road, next to Canada Post.

“Ever since the Bottle Depot moved in, it’s getting bad,” Vit said.

The C-Lovers Fish & Chips restaurant franchise is a Lower Mainland product. The first C-Lovers Fish & Chips was founded in Coquitlam, B.C. in 1984. The restaurant differentiates itself with open concept kitchens and fresh ingredients like hand-selected Alaskan halibut and locally grown, farm fresh Kennebec potatoes.
