Fire causes extensive damage at motel in Hope

HOPE — The Hope Fire Department says two rooms were destroyed by a fire at a 30-unit motel in Hope early Wednesday morning.

According to a social media post from the department, Hope firefighters were dispatched for a commercial structure fire at the Skagit Motel Wednesday at approximately 6:30 a.m. Flames engulfed a portion of the 30-unit motel on 3rd Avenue. The fire originated in a storage room.

Two rooms were destroyed along with damage to four other rooms. Fortunately, no guests were staying in those rooms at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported by fire personnel. The exact cause remains unknown and is under investigation.
