Telus to oversee management, account billing for longtime Chilliwack company

CHILLIWACK — In a significant move that could impact multiple Chilliwack residents and businesses, the owner of a longtime Chilliwack security monitoring firm says Telus has been assigned to the management and billing of its security accounts.

According to a copy of a letter posted online by someone anonymously on Wednesday (Feb. 7), Contact Security owner Bert Brunia wrote in a letter to his existing customers that they can expect a welcome migration letter from Telus in the coming weeks.

“On behalf of the Brunia family, we wanted to inform you that we have made the decision to assign the management and billing of your alarm monitoring to Telus,” Bert Brunia wrote in his letter to customers. “Aside from being a well-known name in the telephone, cellular, internet and TV business, Telus is now the largest provider of home and business security…and a leader in the field.”

Brunia says Contact Security decided to partner with Telus because of its service platform in the security monitoring industry.

“We chose Telus to partner with because we are confident Telus, of all the alarm companies in the Lower Mainland, can best provide you with state of the art security services that you have come to expect from us,” the letter stated.

Existing Contact Security customers do not need to take any kind of immediate action, Brunia indicated.

“You are not required to do anything at this time and Contact Security will continue to service your account until further notice,” the letter continued. “Telus team members will not be able to assist you with relation to your security account until we finish integrating business operations and have transitioned your account profile.”

At some point, Contact Security says customers can expect to receive a new account number, contact information for billing and monitoring, and how to re-enroll banking information or enroll your credit card for pre-authorized payments. Contact Security also says there will be no change to the monitoring rate for alarm systems “at this time.”

“We look forward to working with Telus throughout this transition period to provide the next generation of home and business automation services to our clients,” the letter stated. “I am writing to express my sincere thanks for your loyalty and support of Contact Security over the years. It has been a pleasure protecting your home or business throughout this period.”

Brunia pledged to ensure the transition to Telus will be a seamless one.

“I want to assure you that your satisfaction remains our top priority during this transition time,” Brunia wrote in his letter. “We are working with Telus to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for you.”
