CHILLIWACK — A volunteer firefighter with over a decade of service to the Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department has earned a well-deserved promotion.

The rural fire department on Chilliwack Lake Road promoted Captain Justin Daly, a 14-year member of the CRVFD, to assistant chief Tuesday night (Feb. 6), receiving an exemplary new helmet to boot as part of the promotion.

“A/C Daly has been with the department for 14 years and will be an excellent addition to our chief ranks, helping to manage and oversee our department as it grows and serves the valley,” Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department wrote on Facebook. “Congratulations, Chief Daly!”

Daly was one of several volunteer firefighters from the Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department who answered the call to help battle fires during the summer of 2023 in what became a record-breaking wildfire season across British Columbia.

Daly was deployed alongside training officer Keagan Munro and firefighter Jay Wang to help fight a fire in Osoyoos in early August 2023.
