New Starbucks set to open soon in Chilliwack, possibly in March

CHILLIWACK — Branded signage has been mounted heralding the advent of yet another Starbucks location in Chilliwack.

The ubiquitous mermaid will set up shop in a drive-through location at 45044 Commercial Court, at the corner of Commercial Court and Evans Road just north of the Evans roundabout, and within the same premises as the Concentrix call centre and La-Z-Boy retail centre.

The retail site will feature a Petro-Canada gas station, GlideWash car wash, a Royal Bank of Canada ATM, and a convenience store built on a busy thoroughfare in Chilliwack. Once it opens, this retail gas station will be the sixth Petro-Canada location in Chilliwack, excluding the Petro-Pass commercial fueling network.

An email sent to Fraser Valley Today Tuesday morning by an anonymous individual who did not provide their name or email said this Commercial Court location will open in March, while a Popkum Starbucks location at 52964 Yale Road East will similarly open in March.

According to Jamie Leggatt, director of communications and legislative services for the City of Chilliwack, a development permit for “form and character” was approved by Chilliwack council in August 2022.

The development is approximately 1.46 acres and will include four fast electric vehicle-charging stations. The sign at Commercial Court and Evans says “EV Fast Charge” in red.

In addition to this Petro-Can location, there are five Petro-Canada retail locations in Chilliwack, including one in Yarrow (42221 Yarrow Central Road), one in Popkum (53003 Bunker Road), one in Sardis (7591 Vedder Road), and two on the north side of the highway including 45632 Airport Road (Airport and Yale) and 8100 Young Road, just off westbound Hwy. 1. There are also two Petro Pass locations in Chilliwack (Yale Road near Service BC and Yale Road in Greendale, near exit 109).

The Starbucks location becomes the seventh site in Chilliwack, joining three locations on Luckakuck (Cottonwood mall, Safeway and the one next to Kal Tire), one at Keith Wilson/Vedder, one at Yale Road/Airport Road in Midtown, and another on Yale Road next to KFC.
