CHILLIWACK — Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for Chilliwack and the eastern Fraser Valley ahead of a significant snowfall accumulation starting late Tuesday night.

According to an advisory issued at 4:46 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 16), and later updated at 10:54 a.m. by the national weather agency, hazardous winter conditions are expected to begin Tuesday night marked by a significant snowfall accumulation of between 15-25 centimetres. It previously estimated 20-25 centimetres of snow would accumulate in Chilliwack.

Environment Canada says there will be heavy snow and blowing snow for motorists to contend with due to a Pacific low pressure system.
