CHILLIWACK — In the same 24-hour period that the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched for at least five water leaks involving burst pipes, a similar incident unfolded over the weekend at an elementary school in Chilliwack.

According to an email sent to parents by principal Carolyn Ingham, a couple of water pipes burst over the weekend at Little Mountain Elementary at 9900 Carleton Street in Chilliwack. The most significant impact was a water pipe and sprinkler that ruptured at the front entrance of the school. Ingham credited Chilliwack firefighters and SD33 personnel with a quick response.

“The fire department and the district maintenance team were very quick to respond,” Ingham wrote in her email dated Sunday, January 14 to Little Mountain Elementary parents. “The school district has made LME (Little Mountain Elementary) a top priority and restoration services are working on site.”

Little Mountain is open today (Jan. 15,), however its front office was significantly impacted by water damage.
