Chilliwack Fire Department dispatched for multiple calls of burst pipes, water leaks Monday, including at a restaurant
CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Fire Department has been dispatched for at least four calls Monday morning (January 15) involving burst pipes and/or water leaks, as temperatures warm up slightly from last week’s frigid temperatures.
According to scanner traffic information collected by Julie Hiscock, who monitors and records scanner traffic throughout the day, one of the four calls for service involving a water leak came from the back of a restaurant, 8705 Young Road, at 5:51 a.m. Monday morning in which firefighters tried to shut off the water, but could not gain access. They asked for dispatchers to contact public works with the City of Chilliwack to shut off the water.
Fraser Valley Today visited the commercial plaza where Grewal Sweets & Foods suffered some kind of leak. There was a small but continuous flow of water oozing from a mechanical or boiler room on the south side of the commercial building. Damage, if any, to the interior of the building is not known as the restaurant windows were fogged up, and the restaurant doesn’t appear to have a Facebook page local to just Chilliwack.
