CHILLIWACK — A Chilliwack cannabis store on Lickman Road sustained potentially thousands of dollars in damage and product theft after it suffered a smash and grab early Wednesday morning (January 10).

According to footage posted online by the company, five masked vandals gained access to the building after the two exterior doors at the main entrance to Seed & Stone, located at 8050 Lickman Road, were ripped from the door hinges and destroyed. The commercial burglary and theft happened Wednesday starting at approximately 4:02 a.m.

“Our Chilliwack store was broken into last night, affecting our business, our team and our valued customers,” Seed & Stone wrote on its Instagram page Wednesday. “We are saddened to experience this unfortunate event, but we want to take this opportunity to thank our customers for being co-operative, compassionate, and so supportive during this tough time. We highly value each one of you and we are working hard to have the store open again within a day. We can’t wait to serve you again and continue this journey together.”

The crime spree begins when two vehicles including a Ford Focus-looking vehicle and a quad cab pickup with a short bed, possibly Chevy Silverado Z71, roll into the parking lot just before 4:03 a.m.

One of the five male crooks takes some kind of object and uses it to smash the two front glass doors, at which point one of the males backs up the truck to within 5 feet of the business, attaches a cable or chain to the hitch, drives the truck forward and physically rips the two front doors off.

The thieves proceed to enter the store emboldened and appear to repeatedly smash multiple glass enclosures containing various products and steal multiple items. According to time stamps from outside the store and inside the store, the entire incident reportedly lasted less than three minutes.

The store was open Thursday night when a Fraser Valley Today reporter visited the location. Signs advising customers to watch their step appeared at the main entrance; plywood had been mounted to cover up damage to the left front door.
