ABBOTSFORD — A motorist who wasn’t supposed to be on Abbotsford-area roadways in the first place received a three-month driving ban after a traffic stop overnight Thursday.

According to a social media post from police, Abbotsford PD patrol members executed a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in the area of Simon Avenue and Trethewey Street.

Police say as the driver reached into the glovebox for insurance papers, a firearm, later determined to be an airsoft gun, caught the eye of attending officers.

AbbyPD patrol members subsequently seized the firearm along with several “throwing knives.” The driver was also found to have an outstanding driving prohibition notice, and was handed a 90-day driving ban.
