Update at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday: There is now single-lane alternating traffic between Spuzzum and Boston Bar, according to updates from Drive BC. Motorists traveling through the Fraser Canyon are asked to watch for traffic control personnel.

FRASER CANYON — Highway 1 between Spuzzum and Boston Bar in the Fraser Canyon has been closed due to a serious vehicle incident.

Drive BC reports that Highway 1 (Trans-Canada Highway) has been closed in both directions due to a vehicle incident between Spuzzum Creek Road and Boston Bar Station Road for 22.4 kilometres. The closure begins 18 kms north of Yale to 26 kms south of Jackass Mountain Road.

An assessment is in progress. Drive BC hopes to have an update by 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. Its website was last updated at 12:12 a.m.

The vehicle accident happened sometime around 10 p.m. Monday night as Drive BC’s first update about Highway 1 conditions through the Fraser Canyon was 10:17 p.m.

There are unconfirmed reports the vehicle incident involved two semi trucks and entrapment, resulting in five B.C. Ambulance Service ambulances being dispatched to the area.
