CHILLIWACK — The talented artists from the Chilliwack School of Performing Arts (CSOPA) will reprise the cast of Disney’s Descendants: The Musical starting Wednesday, January 10 through Sunday, January 21 at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.

The Disney production revolves around a sense of belonging, heroes, villains and, perhaps even, magic chocolate chip cookies. Taking place in the kingdom of Auradon, Disney’s signature heroes and royals are safely living out their happily ever afters, while the storybook villains, sidekicks, and ne’er do wells have been imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost, a place stripped of magic. Queen Belle and King Beast are poised to hand over the kingdom’s control to their son Ben, who is only a few days away from his coronation as king. In the hopes of finally rebuilding the bridge between worlds, Ben’s first decree as king is to welcome the teen children of Maleficent, the evil Queen Grimhilde, Jafar, and Cruella De Vil to Auradon as students of Auradon Prep. If this experiment into goodness works, there is hope for peace between the two worlds. If it doesn’t, Ben’s parents declare he must shut the door to the Isle forever.

Meanwhile, the villains see this as the perfect opportunity, sending their children with the secret mission of taking over the kingdom and freeing them from the isle. Having only ever known the evils of their home, Mal, Jay, Evie and Carlos suddenly find themselves in an upside-down world alongside the children of their parent’s sworn enemies. But is “being good” truly as bad as they were taught to believe? Now they face the ultimate decision of whether they follow in their parents’ wicked footsteps, or can they learn to be good?

August Catalfamo, Rei Celaj, Adison Wyler, and Olyviah Doherty are among the cast featured in Disney’s Descendants: The Musical, with costume design by Emily Hamel, and hair and makeup design by Siobhan D’Souza.

Tickets are $24.50 for regular showings, $18.50 for preview showings, and $22.50 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased at www.chilliwackculturalcentre.ca, or by calling 601-391-SHOW (7469).
