Chilliwack Dogwood Monarch Lions Club donates over $40,000 from bingo funds to local non-profits
CHILLIWACK — A Chilliwack service club that prides itself on rolling up its sleeves to help the broader Chilliwack community has done it again.
The Chilliwack Dogwood Monarch Lions Club wrote on Facebook that it has donated thousands of dollars to support two worthy non-profits in Chilliwack, the Chilliwack Salvation Army Food Bank and the Cyrus Centre.
“Our club was thrilled to donate $35,000 to Salvation Army,” Chilliwack Dogwood Monarch Lions wrote in a social media post dated Saturday, December 16. “These bingo funds will support the food bank and help to purchase winter clothing for people in need. Thank you all for helping so many people in need.”
Chilliwack Dogwood Monarch Lions Club also made a magnanimous donation of $7,500 to support the work of the Cyrus Centre, whose mission is to provide services to youth ages 12-24 who lack a safe, stable place to live. Cyrus Centre staff work to provide a variety of supports like shelter, meals, advocacy, showers, laundry services and much more.
