McNicholas stands stall in Chilliwack’s win over Langley
CHILLIWACK — Austin McNicholas stopped 38 of 39 shots to lead the Chilliwack Chiefs to a 2 – 1 victory against the Rivermen in Langley Friday (Dec. 1). Langley opened the scoring at the 5:12 mark of the first period on Connor Schneider’s second goal of the season. But McNicholas was able to slam the door shut from there, stopping 14 shots in the first, 12 shots in the second period and another 12 shots in the third.
Jack Sparkes and Nathan Morin scored goals for the Chiefs who managed 30 shots on Langley’s Mason Beaupit. Morin’s eighth goal of the season came early in the second period and stood up as the game-winner.
The two clubs will hook up again Sunday evening at 5 p.m. in Chilliwack.
