CHILLIWACK — A jewelry store at Cottonwood Centre mall is closed until further notice five days after it was burglarized.

According to a news release from police last week, Chilliwack RCMP frontline officers attended the 45500 block of Luckakuck Way, Cottonwood mall, for a report of an alarm on Thursday, November 23 at approximately 4:30 a.m.

Once on scene, police discovered smashed glass on a door to the Cottonwood mall. While clearing the premises, it was also observed that the suspect, or suspects, had forced their way inside a jewelry store inside the mall and an unknown quantity of jewelry was stolen.

Ben Moss, the jewelry store where the burglary occurred, remains closed until further notice, according to a sign outside the locked up business that was visible Tuesday afternoon.

“Closed until further notice; we apologize for the inconvenience,” the sign outside Ben Moss stated Tuesday (Nov. 28).

The investigation is still ongoing, police say. Anyone with information is asked to call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611, or if you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The commercial burglary was the second incident involving a jewelry store in less than a week. In the early hours of Saturday, November 18, Chilliwack RCMP responded to a break and enter at Royal’s Gold & Silver Jewellers located at 9-7300 Vedder Road. The incident resulted in a significant theft of store contents, the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment said in a statement.
