POWELL RIVER — The Chilliwack Chiefs exploded with four unanswered goals in the third period to come from behind and defeat the hometown Powell River Kings 5 – 3 Friday (Nov. 24).

The Chiefs trailed the game 3 – 1 after two periods. But Brady Milburn got the comeback started, scoring his sixth goal of the season just 69 seconds into the final period. Matt Argentina tied the game at 12:46 and three minutes later he put the Chiefs ahead with his fourth of the year.

Powell River went on the powerplay late in the game, but instead of scoring the tying goal, Chilliwack’s Nathan Morin scored a short-handed insurance goal to clinch the victory.

Mateo Mrsic scored the other Chilliwack goal on the night. Austin McNicholas stopped 31 of 34 Powell River shots to earn the win in the Chiefs net.

The game turned nasty at the five-minute mark of the third period when officials dealt out a minor, four fighting majors, two misconducts, and six game misconducts to the two clubs.

The fireworks set the stage for Saturday night’s battle between the two clubs at 7 p.m. in Powell River. It will be the third game in a row between the two clubs.
