Chilliwack RCMP investigating break-in at jewelry store on Vedder Road

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack RCMP are investigating a break and enter that happened last weekend at a jewelry store on Vedder Road in Sardis, resulting in a significant amount of items being stolen.

Chilliwack Councillor Chris Kloot first tipped off Fraser Valley Today on Saturday morning, November 18 about the incident that happened in a commercial plaza at 7300 Vedder Road. Kloot shared pictures of yellow caution tape strung across the front of the storefront businesses, an RCMP cruiser on scene Saturday morning, and the location where a large chunk of the building had been damaged.

Significant debris as a result of the break-in was visible as it lay on the ground, according to the pictures shared by Kloot. The access point appeared to be at least two feet long and at least one foot wide.

The area where the perpetrators gained access was later covered up by plywood.

Debbie Sargent of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment released the following statement: “In the early hours on Saturday, November 18, 2023, the Chilliwack RCMP responded to break and enter at Royal’s Gold & Silver Jewellers located on Vedder Road. The incident resulted in a significant theft of store contents. This investigation is still on-going.”

The RCMP file number is 2023-48529. No further information was released by police.
