Second period outburst paces Salmon Arm to win over Chilliwack
CHILLIWACK — Three consecutive goals in the second period lifted the Salmon Arm Silverbacks to a 4 – 1 victory over the Chilliwack Chiefs Friday (Nov. 10) in Chilliwack.
After a scoreless first period, the Chiefs opened the scoring when Brian Morse netted his sixth goal of the season at the 56-second mark. But the Silverbacks came to life about two minutes later when Cole Longacre tied it. Ty Paisley gave Salmon Arm the lead at the midway point of the period and JJ Monteiro made it 3 – 1 with a little more than three minutes left in the period. Jacob Bonkowski scored the lone goal of the third period to clinch the win for Salmon Arm.
The Chiefs outshot Salmon Arm 27 – 22 in the game but were outshot 10 – 5 in the second period when the Sliverbacks did most of their damage.
While the win was Salmon Arm’s third in a row, the Chiefs have now dropped two consecutive games. Chilliwack is off for a week before hosting Langley and Powell River next weekend at the Coliseum.
