HOPE — The District of Hope council has updated its “Good Neighbour” bylaw to clarify the exact hours during which trades activity may occur.

According to a post on its X/Twitter account, the district of Hope says council members reviewed and gave consideration towards works taking place in commercial, industrial, and light industrial zoned lands regarding noise and excessive works.

At its meeting on Monday, October 23, council adopted an amendment to the Good Neighbour bylaw and imposed a rule that says the following: “No trade or industry at a commercial, industrial or light industrial zoned area, shall, on any day before 7 a.m. or after 9 p.m., create sound or noise common to such trade or industry, unless such sound or noise is contained within an enclosed building to thereby keep the sound and noise contained.”

The district wrote on its website that the new guidelines are now in full force and all owners and occupiers of land in these areas are now required to follow the noted timelines.
