**Update at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday: A Starbucks spokesperson for Canada and U.S., Leanna Rizzi, says she has no confirmed opening date for the Popkum Starbucks at 52964 Yale Road.**

POPKUM — Chilliwack’s newest Starbucks is coming along nicely, but its grand opening appears to be delayed by at least two months.

Crews continue to make interior improvements to a retail shopping centre at 52964 Yale Road in Popkum, formally known as Rosedale Village, at the intersection Hwy. 9 and Yale Road.

The drive-through lanes at both Starbucks and Dairy Queen have had curbing, asphalt, landscaping and painted drive-thru lane signage installed, but no exterior signage has been attached to the buildings on the nearly 1-acre parcel of land.

According to a Fraser Valley Today story dated July 4, 2023, the opening of Starbucks was delayed until the end of September as per Starbucks manager Semi Lee, who works in the Chilliwack area. The Popkum Starbucks was previously slated to open in August.

Fraser Valley Today reached out to Semi Lee via Facebook Messenger to obtain any additional timelines for opening, but did not hear back from Lee.

There are other businesses coming to the plaza. According to documents attached to the Fraser Valley Regional District board meeting held on April 27, the developer of the property has labeled the four additional businesses as health, phone, dental and grocery.

The commercial development will be across the intersection from the Esso gas station, Tim Hortons, Agency Liquor Store, and Barcelos Flame Grilled Chicken at the Highway 9 and Yale Road roundabout.

The addition of Dairy Queen means it will be the third of its kind in the greater Chilliwack area, with the other two Dairy Queens located on Young Road and Vedder Road in Chilliwack, which are heavily traveled roads like Highway 9.
