HOPE — The District of Hope says it is working to replace a pedestrian overpass that was damaged by an excavator last week.

According to a post on the district’s Facebook page Tuesday (Oct. 17), the district says the pedestrian overpass on Flood Hope Road at Peter Street was struck by the boom of an excavator, causing the main span to become dislodged.

With the assistance of Kiewit, a multinational company that specializes in infrastructure construction and maintenance, the damaged section was removed and the remainder of the structure was boarded up for safety, the district wrote on Facebook.

The district says it is working on replacing the overpass with a signalized crosswalk as soon as possible.
