Hope volunteer firefighters are asked to be compassionate, committed and fit, and be willing to commit to weekly training held Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., with a minimum attendance of 70 per cent for training and a minimum of 40 per cent of callouts on an annual basis.

Applicants should have completed grade 12 or equivalent, have a valid class 5 driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract, the ability to successfully pass, and maintain, an RCMP Criminal and Vulnerable Sector Check, be legally entitled to work in Canada, and live in Hope full-time.

Applicants with preferred qualifications are asked to highlight them on their application, including a class 1-4 driver’s license with or without an air brake endorsement, a postsecondary education or a technical or trades certificate, advanced first aid training, fire-related coursework completed, previous emergency response experience, and an ability to respond to emergencies during the daytime.

Interviews and offers will be held October 20-November 3, and training is set to begin November 16, with recruit boot camp to follow November 17-19.
