Police wound up responding quickly to the area and arrested 42-year-old 42-year-old Jacqueline Bernadette Skimming. She faces charges of theft under $5,000 and assault.

ABBOTSFORD — She tried to get away, but quick action by the Abbotsford Police Department stopped an alleged robber from eluding justice.

On Saturday, September 23, at 12:22 p.m., Abbotsford Police Department patrol members responded to a robbery at a business in the 1800 block of McCallum Road in Abbotsford. According to a news release from AbbyPD media relations spokesperson Constable Art Stele, a female suspect had reportedly pulled a knife directed at staff, taking items of over $600 from the business before departing.

Due to the swift response and collection of critical, descriptive features, the suspect was spotted attempting to flee the area and was taken into police custody. The suspect, 42-year-old Jacqueline Bernadette Skimming, was identified and is facing charges of theft of merchandise not in excess of $5,000, in violation of section 334(b) of the Criminal Code; and assault, in violation of section 266 of the Criminal Code, Cst. Stele said.
